KIDS: Write a story and you could win a prize

After ""Scaring Up Good Books"" with the summer reading club, Forsyth Public Library staff members are ready to get into the Halloween spirit by offering their second annual Scary Story Writing Contest.

Children in fourth though eighth grades are invited to submit original short, spooky stories now through Thursday, Oct. 14. Entries will be judged in two categories: grades 4-5 and grades 6-8, with a gift card to Waldenbooks awarded to the grand prize winner in each category. All entrants will be invited to appear at the library's ""Halloween Family Fun Night"" planned for Tuesday evening, Oct. 26, when the winning authors will have the opportunity to read their stories.

Guidelines, judging criteria and entry forms are available at the library or may be downloaded from the library's website at forsythlibrary.com.

""Pick up your copy soon and get those creative juices flowing!"" said Children's Librarian Lorraine Getty. And be sure to watch for upcoming information about Halloween Family Fun Night.
