Children’s librarian named Forsyth Public Library Director Jean Campbell has hired Rachel Miller to fill the part-time position of children’s librarian. The position was vacant due to the retirement of previous children’s librarian Lorraine Getty.

Miller has historical ties to the Village. She was one of the library’s earliest directors and left in 1987 to have her first child. “Many people have warm memories of her first time being here,” Campbell said.

Miller has a master’s degree in library science from the University of Illinois and most recently served as the children’s services consultant at Rolling Prairie Library System. Since starting her new job March 24, Miller has been working to complete the summer reading programming that kicks off this June. “We’re thrilled to have her. She is so accomplished and organized,” Campbell said.

As Forsyth Library’s second children’s librarian, Miller will be responsible for planning and executing children’s programs, working with school groups and providing class visits, fostering a stronger relationship with local teachers and helping library patrons as they browse and look for children’s materials.

“All of these things are of equal importance,” Campbell said of Miller’s duties.
