Important reminders for patrons about the library’s transition to a new database system On April 9, Forsyth Public Library is scheduled to go live with SHARE, a new, larger database. As part of the upcoming migration to SHARE, Library staff must ask patrons to be patient with a few necessary steps:

  • The library will have shortened hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 8.
  • Library staff will be unable to look up users’ PINs after April 1. Patrons must have their library cards with them to check out any materials from April 1-9, and new or replacement cards cannot be issued during that same time period. Even after April 9, patrons are encouraged to bring their cards with them to ensure a faster checkout.
  • No new holds can be placed before April 9.
  • No materials will be due during April 1-9.

After SHARE goes live, patrons will be able to use their Forsyth library card at any of the 427 Illinois libraries in the consortium, even checking materials out in one location and returning them at another SHARE library. The new SHARE database is a result of the a state-mandated merging of four Illinois library systems, including the local Rolling Prairie Library System.
