Mayor, trustees sworn in to begin new term

Thursday, May 11, 2017

At the May 1 Board meeting, Mayor Marilyn Johnson, Trustee Bob Gruenewald and Trustee David Wendt were sworn in after being re-elected in the April election. It marked the beginning of a second term for each.

Trustee Kerry Denison, who was elected for the first time in April, was also sworn in. Village Clerk Amy Goodman performed the swearing-in duties for all.

The new term also required re-appointment of key Village positions, including administrator, clerk and treasurer, as well as the attorney and engineer.

Thank you to Trustee Hubbard

Trustee Steve Hubbard was honored as he said goodbye after eight years of service to the Board. He received warm applause as the mayor thanked him for serving. Hubbard wished Denison, his successor, the best and thanked everyone, saying he had learned a lot during his time as a trustee.

He noted that serving in public office doesn’t require agreement all the time but added: “I consider every co-board member a friend.”
