New scoreboards going up in park

Thursday, July 31, 2014

You may have noticed a new scoreboard at Forsyth Park. Actually, there are two new scoreboards in place now on the south ball diamonds; that would be Diamonds No. 1 and 2.

“Two done and two to go,” Public Works Director Larry Coloni said of the work that’s been done and the work remaining for his crew.

Two additional new scoreboards will go up in the next several weeks on Diamonds No. 4 and 5.

Coloni said his guys will also move an old scoreboard from Diamond No. 5 over to No. 3. The plan is to have them all up before fall, he said. The Public Works staff is handling the work.

Pepsi donated $10,000 to offset the village’s costs. In return, the Pepsi logo will appear on all scoreboards in the park. It’s a 10-year agreement that makes Pepsi the sole vendor for the park.

“The scoreboards use LED lights, and they’re bright,” Coloni said. “You can see them from a long way off.”
