DCS carnival and spaghetti dinner
Step right up and mark your calendars for March 6 for Decatur Christian School’s carnival and spaghetti dinner. The senior class is hosting the spaghetti dinner and will also have a dessert auction. The spaghetti dinner is from 6-8 p.m., with the dessert auction beginning at 8 p.m. The carnival, hosted by the junior class, is from 6-10 p.m. Tickets for the spaghetti dinner are: $7 for adults, $5 for students (K-12) and $6 for seniors; children under 3 are free. Carnival tickets are $1.50 for five tickets if purchased before Feb. 20, and $2 for five tickets if purchased at the door. For every 20 tickets you buy, you will be entered into a drawing for some “awesome” gift cards. Tickets went on sale Feb. 23 and can be purchased in the school office. Please come out and join in a fun time for the entire family.

Bloom Where You’re Planted
Decatur Christian School’s Spring Auction is coming up on April 11 at 5:30 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 650 N. Wyckles Road in Decatur. Cost is $25 per person/$40 per couple or $150 for a table of eight. Tickets will be on sale in the school office from March 16 through April 8.

Stop in at Decatur Christian School for an Open House from 6:30-8 p.m. on March 3. The event is for families of pre-school 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds and kindergarten-age students. Decatur Christian School is located at 137 Grant St. in Forsyth. Come by and see the classrooms and meet the teachers!

Post-prom fundraiser 
Need A Night Out? Join us for Comedy Night on Saturday, March 7 at The Clinton Country Club. Doors open at 6 p.m. Comedy Night includes a buffet dinner, cash bar and silent auction. The evening will feature two standup comedians. Tickets are $35 per person. All proceeds go to support the 2015 Maroa-Forsyth post-prom. M-F School District developmental screenings underway this week
Screenings will be held at Maroa-Forsyth Grade School, 641 E. Shafer, Feb. 25-27, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Screenings are for children who will be 3 and 4 by Sept. 1, 2015. Parents interested in possible entry into the pre-kindergarten program for their 3- and 4-year-olds must have their child screened. For an appointment, please contact Maroa-Forsyth Grade School at 877-2023, option 3. NOTE: There will be no further screenings until next school year, and these will be only for families new to the community.

Easter Egg Hunt volunteers needed
The Forsyth Family Fest Committee is the same group that plans the Easter Egg Hunt, which this year will be on Saturday, April 4, the day before Easter Sunday. The next planning meeting is Monday, March 23 at 6 p.m. at Village Hall, where the plan is to get rolling on filling a couple thousand Easter eggs with candy. Committee chair Trustee Kerstin Trachtenberg said there’s always a need for lots of helping hands to put this fun event together.
