The Community Foundation of Macon County awards scholarships to three MFHS graduates
Three 2016 graduates of Maroa-Forsyth High School have been awarded scholarships through the Community Foundation of Macon County.

  • Madeleine Hubbard is the recipient of the Susan and Lloyd Swanson Memorial Scholarship.
  • Kirsten Kapraun is the recipient of the Macon County Soil and Water Conservation District Scholarship.'
  • Emily Ma is the recipient of the Golden K Kiwanis Club of Decatur Scholarship.

The Community Foundation of Macon County administers over 72 scholarship funds. These scholarships are open to students graduating from a Macon County high school. Some scholarships may be renewed if the college student is making progress toward their degree. Specific information on these and other scholarships may be viewed on the website at www.endowdecatur.org.

Forsyth United Methodist celebrates Sesquicentennial
The 150th anniversary of establishing a Methodist church in Forsyth will be held Aug. 13-14 at Forsyth United Methodist Church, 210 E. Ruehl St. Everyone is invited to the celebration. An ice cream social will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 at 5:30 p.m. Bring lawn chairs so you’re comfortable to see the musical group Allegiance perform. A special Sunday worship service will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14 with Rev. Janice Griffith, assistant to the Bishop of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference, delivering the morning message. Former pastors and their families have been invited and will have an opportunity to share remembrances.
