Orthodontist moving from Decatur location to new site in Forsyth

Thursday, November 28, 2013

The folks at Cavanaugh Orthodontic Care have been taking care of patients in the Decatur area for around 17 years. Soon there will be an address change for Dr. Cathy Cavanaugh and her six long-time staff members.

You may have noticed a foundation was poured recently at a property on Weaver Road next to the Imaging Center across from Christopher Drive. And, more recently, framing and walls have gone up. That will be the new home for Cavanaugh Orthodontic Care in a few months.

The new building should be ready in the spring of 2014. Cavanaugh is hoping for March, and she plans on moving in as soon as possible after the building is ready, probably at the end of March or in early April.

Cavanaugh, who grew up nearby on the north end of Decatur, is “definitely excited to be moving the practice to Forsyth.”

The space will be bigger, which will help deliver the best care for patients, but it will also give her a commute of five minutes or less from her home in Forsyth. For a mother of five, being so close to home is a real plus.

Cavanaugh is a graduate of St. Teresa High School and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She went on to the University of Illinois Dental School in Chicago and completed here orthodontic residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1993.

Picking up and moving a practice, even if it’s only a matter of a few miles from its current location on Mound Road, is a monumental task.

“It’s been a dream a while in the making, and I can’t wait,” Cavanaugh said.
