Proposed bike path Open House set for June 1

Thursday, May 26, 2016

BGM & Associates, Inc. and the Village of Forsyth will hold an Open House to discuss a proposed bike path along Oakland Avenue and Hickory Point Road. The open house will be held June 1 from 5:30-to 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall in Forsyth, 301 South Route 51. Anyone interested in this project may attend.

If you have a disability and plan to attend, please contact Matthew B. Foster using contact info listed at the end of this story by May 27. If special accommodations are required, Foster should be informed in advance. The meeting room is accessible to persons with a disability.

The proposed improvement consists of the construction of approximately a half-mile of asphalt path 10 feet in width and a new bikeway bridge over Stevens Creek. An at-grade crossing of Oakland Avenue and an interconnection to the intersection of Oakland Avenue at Hickory Point Road will also be incorporated into the project. This improvement will also be ADA accessible.

To construct this improvement, additional right-of-way and easements will be required. Representatives from BGM & Associates, Inc. will be present at the open house to discuss right-of-way acquisition procedures. A timeframe on the acquisition of the right-of-way and easements has not been established yet.

The meeting will be conducted on an informal basis. A brief project summary on the status of the project will be available. Representatives from BGM & Associates, Inc. and the Village of Forsyth will be available to discuss the project and answer individual questions. Verbatim comments will not be recorded. Written comments will be accepted and placed into the record.
Preliminary maps and aerial photography will be available for inspection and viewing during the entire time.
