Veterans Pavilion, park targeted

Between the law enforcement report at the July 6 board meeting, given by Deputy Cassandra Barnes, and the most recent Public Works report, also part of the July 6 meeting, the village has been hit with a recent spate of vandalism.

Public Works Director Larry Coloni reported that vandals set fire to toilet paper inside a restroom at the Veterans Pavilion, and bricks were used to break out several lights. A flag light and monument light were damaged beyond repair, Coloni reported. He also reported that someone had damaged flowers by driving on landscape islands at ball diamonds 4 and 5.

Coloni also wrote that someone driving a golf cart had damaged wet areas of the park, probably by doing spinouts. Barnes, in her presentation to the board, cautioned that anyone driving a golf cart should be 16 years of age.

If you have any information about any of these incidents, please contact Village Hall or law enforcement. 
