Residence Inn welcomes guests as village’s newest hotel opens

Thursday, February 26, 2015

The new Residence Inn by Marriott opened for business on Feb. 2. Located next to Lowe’s at 230 Lucile Ave. in Forsyth, the sharply appointed extended-stay hotel has 96 rooms and an array of creature comforts for its guests.

Aimee Fyke, of Forsyth, spearheaded the project in her position as chief operating officer for Tharaldson Hospitality Management. Construction got underway when the first shovels of dirt were turned in late summer 2013.

During an appearance before the Planning and Zoning Commission a few months ago, Fyke had said it was her company’s “mission to provide our guests with everything they need to thrive while on the road.”

To that end, there is a gathering, known as a social, that includes dinner and drinks for guests from 6-7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There’s a fitness center, an indoor pool and there’s an outdoor basketball/sports court for use during more agreeable Midwestern seasons. Complimentary breakfast is served every morning for guests
Fyke has described Residence Inn as the largest brand in the upscale extended-stay category with more than 650 locations, adding that the suites are designed for longer stays. The hotel features studio, 1- and 2-bedroom suites with full kitchens and bathrooms with walk-in showers or tubs, depending on preference.
