Curbside service for tree limbs, leaves runs concurrently

In the same way professional baseball and football seasons collide on television right now, this is the time of year in the village when two of our curbside services — daily leaf pickup service and weekly tree limb collection — also overlap. Below are some important facts to help you keep on schedule with these important and free services. We begin with tree limb collection since it will come to an end sooner.

  • Tree limb collection
This free service continues on Mondays until the last Monday in November. Limbs must be less than 8 feet in length and less than 10 inches in diameter to be acceptable. Please have your tree limbs at the curb by 8 a.m. on Mondays. Landscape waste, tree trunks and tree root balls are not acceptable.
  • Leaf pickup
This annual free service begins next week, running every day from Oct. 19 to Dec. 3. Please have your leaves piled up at the curb away from mailboxes and street signs by 8 a.m. Reminder: There is no leaf pickup on holidays and weekends.
Leaves ONLY: Brush, sticks, grass clippings, landscape waste, grass clippings and garden waste are not acceptable.

Village policy is that village staff can refuse to remove landscape waste that is deemed not in compliance with guidelines. Removing landscape waste that does not qualify as leaves is not the responsibility of the village.

Burn ordinance: There is not a burn ban in the village, but there is a burn ordinance with a minimum $25 fine for each violation. Only yard waste can be burned, and burning can only be done on dry days and must be completed before dusk, which means there is no burning at night. Burn rules are there to prevent anyone from being a nuisance to their neighbors.

If you have a question about these or any of the services offered by the village, please call Village Hall at 877-9445.
