Several file to run for office in April election

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

A Jan. 3 lottery at 10 a.m. in Village Hall will determine the ballot position in the spring election for the four trustee and two mayoral candidates who filed their nominating petitions at the same time Dec. 17, the first day of the filing period. The filing period for petitions ends at 5 p.m. on Dec. 26.

Among the first to file for the expiring terms of trustees Steve Hubbard, Marilyn Johnson and Eric Morr were Bob Gruenewald of 718 W. Forsyth Parkway, Jim Mathews of 1000 James Court, Dave Wendt of 797 Christopher Drive and Sarah Woollen of 258 S. Smith Street. Johnson and Morr filed for the expiring term of Mayor Hap Gilbert, who earlier announced he would not seek a fourth term.

Village Clerk/Assistant Administrator Kathy Mizer said a total of 16 candidate packets with nominating petitions had been taken out, and she expected more candidates to file before the deadline.
