Spring cleanup grant from county helps reimburse village for costs

Thursday, February 27, 2014

On the agenda at the Feb. 3 board meeting was Approval of Resolution No. 13-05, which authorizes the execution of an agreement between Macon County through the Macon County Environmental Management Department and the Village of Forsyth.

Village Administrator David Strohl explained to trustees that a grant program is available through the Macon County Environmental Management Department that could be used in covering a portion of the spring cleanup/recycling costs that the village offers each year.

Because Macon County has a landfill, it receives money through the Illinois Landfill Tipping Surcharge program. Strohl said that the village had applied for a grant and had received notification of the award. The grant provides for reimbursement of up to $1,000 to be used for spring cleanup and recycling costs. Strohl recommended the board approve Resolution No. 13-05 authorizing the mayor to execute the agreement.

Trustee Steve Hubbard made the motion, and Trustee Larry Reed seconded. The motion carried with all trustees present voting yea.
