Street improvements moving along well

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Overall, the major street improvement projects underway in the Village this fall are going “very well,” said Village Administrator Heather Kimmons in a recent interview. “Oct. 26 is still the scheduled completion date.”

Streets affected by the project include Christopher Drive, Spyglass Boulevard, Spyglass Court and Schroll Court. Kimmons encouraged residents living in these areas to check the Village website and Facebook page for the most recent updates on the progress.

Kimmons noted that asphalt paving work in the Stevens Creek Point subdivision was actually accelerated after the curing process for the soil cement base took less than the seven to 10 days that had been anticipated.

Village trustees had awarded the contract for the work to Dunn Company of Decatur in August at a total cost of just under $555,000.

Kimmons also noted that B & W Paving has completed minor repairs in several areas throughout the Village, including patches on Phillip Circle, Jacobs Way and Gunnar Lane, and the entire portion of multi-use walking/ bike path stretching from Village Hall to Weaver Road. Village trustees had awarded the work totaling $48,700 to the company at their Sept. 19 meeting.
