T-Mobile store now open on Route 51

Thursday, January 26, 2017

With the December opening of the new Forsyth T-Mobile store on Route 51, the new retail center, located at 1260 S. Route 51, is now full.

Steve Zhao and his father run the Champaign-based development business, Neil Plaza. The development, which was built to accommodate four businesses, adds T-Mobile to fill the building’s final vacant space.

T-Mobile, a cell phone store, joins Penn Station East Coast Subs, SportClips and Red Wing Shoes in the retail space located on what is informally the Village’s “Main Street.” Penn Station was first to open in early 2016, followed by SportClips in the spring and Red Wing Shoes in the summer.

This is the fourth development for Zhao and his company. The construction of the building began back in 2015, and that summer Zhao visited the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Village Board to seek variances for his parking lot and a 15-foot pole sign; the variances were granted.

T-Mobile hours are 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call the store at (217) 542-5103.
