Teutopolis champs of Wooden Bat Tourney

Thursday, August 25, 2016

Forsyth Park was the site of the Men’s ASA National Invitational Fastpitch Wooden Bat Tournament played over the weekend of Aug. 5-7. Tournament play got under way on Friday night, continuing through the weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday the last two teams standing out of the ten that came to compete were Miller Lite from Teutopolis and the Falcons from Pinckneyville.

It took two games between the two on Sunday to determine a winner, but the Miller Lite team from T-Town outlasted the Falcons 2-1 in 13 innings in the first game and then held on to win in seven innings 3-0 in the second game.

T-Town rode the pitching arm of one guy, Jason Einhorn, for every inning of both of Sunday’s games.

The Decatur Area Convention and Visitors Bureau was the host of the tournament and has been instrumental in bringing a number of tournaments to the village the last several years.
