Village approves plans for sidewalk at park’s pavilion

Thursday, July 11, 2013

Trustee Bob Gruenewald placed an item on the July 1 agenda proposing that the village build a sidewalk in the park between the large pavilion and the south concession stand making that portion of the park easier to navigate for all.

The discussion among trustees was brief, but the consensus was that the park is an integral part of bringing people to Forsyth. There was agreement that a sidewalk in that area would make moving around the park easier for everyone, especially for people with mobility issues.

Village Administrator Mike Miller called it “a worthy project to put on the agenda.” Trustee Dave Wendt’s support was straightforward: “Short and sweet; let’s do it.”

The distance from the large pavilion to the south concession stand is approximately 175 lineal feet. Village staff has received a verbal estimate for the work of $5,000 to $8,000.

Trustee Bob Rasho made the motion, which was seconded by Gruenewald. While not a budgeted item, the improvement was passed unanimously.
