XFINITY retail store to fill Mi Jalapeño space

Thursday, May 25, 2017

The Village of Forsyth learned recently of plans by Comcast to open an XFINITY Store in Forsyth at 108 E. Barnett Ave., in the former Mi Jalapeño location. Work on the building should begin soon, with the store projected to be ready to open by the end of the year, according to Andrew Zupkoff, community and economic development coordinator for the Village.

A press release from Comcast described a 4,300-square-foot space “designed to give customers the best possible experience, including real-life, hands-on demonstrations of XFINITY’s range of products and services, from cable TV, high-speed Internet and home phone services, to the company’s home security and home automation platform, XFINITY Home.”

The store will have iPads and other mobile devices that visitors can use to explore XFINITY’s Android and iOS apps.
Customers will be able to pay bills, pick up and return equipment and get assistance from sales and service consultants. The XFINITY Store, which will be open seven days a week, will hire around 12 full- and part-time employees.

“I’m pleased that Comcast chose Forsyth for one of its first Central Illinois stores,” Zupkoff said. “The location is in a dynamic area with a significant amount of retail traffic, and it will serve thousands in the Decatur area and surrounding communities.”

Zupkoff noted that the closest XFINITY Store currently is in East Peoria. 
